Tim Baase (he/him) is a writer of middle-grade and young adult fiction in addition to his work as an educator, musician, summer camp expert, and champion for equity and change. A proud Michigan native, he has spent most of his adult life working in residential education and organized camping. As the Director of Residence Life at the world-renowned Interlochen Center for the Arts, Tim supported literally thousands of young artists through their developmental years. A veteran in organizational change management, Tim has facilitated training and workshops to empower seasoned educational institutions to meet the current social-emotional needs of their student body. Throughout his organized camping career, Tim is proud to have interviewed, hired, and trained nearly 3,000 young professionals, many of whom were entering the workforce for the first time. He regularly comes out of “retirement” from a past career in the performing arts and can often be heard singing to anyone who will listen. Tim is an MFA candidate at Hamline University's prestigious Writing for Children and Young Adults program. When he isn’t reading or writing, Tim can be found collecting typewriters and napping with his elderly Shihtzu, Bubba. Tim lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his partner, who is also an author, and their many, many, many books. Though he loves the California sun, Tim still feels most at home while wading in Lake Michigan and searching for Petoskey stones.
