Builders’ Guild
“Because of EBS…we are better parents.”
While we encourage our students’ growing independence, we also partner with parents and guardians to help families navigate the crucial middle-school years. All are members of the Builders’ Guild—our version of a family association. Through the Builders’ Guild, parents and guardians connect with each other, learn about raising middle-school children, share ideas, and give back to the school in many ways, including:
Attending socials, student exhibitions, and events such as Grandfriends’ Day.
Participating in parent education events on a range of topics such as adolescent development; equity, inclusion, and anti-racism; and managing social media.
Volunteering in ways that match their interests and availability—driving on field trips, organizing the library, serving on our board, and more.
Raising funds by participating in the Annual Fund, helping plan the FUN(d)raiser party and auction, and more.
Parents are also encouraged to share feedback and ideas with the school, both formally (through annual surveys) and informally (Found a new article on middle school education? Read a great book that makes you think of the school? Let us know!). Parent input is carefully considered as an integral part of administrative decision-making.
During these years, families may feel a growing distance between parenting and school life. Yet, maintaining and finding new ways to be in relationship are so important—for both children and their caregivers. The Builders’ Guild and EBS seek to do just this, building a foundation for high school and beyond.
“Because of EBS…I am more connected to my son.”
